Current Areas of Interest/Research Focuses:

Dr. Evans has been working in remote sensing / spatial technologies for over 20 years. He is active in several initiatives that involve the use of remote sensing and allied spatial technologies for assessment and monitoring of natural resources. He has considerable experience in use of satellite imagery for forest assessments. His current research projects and interests are primarily focused on the use of high-resolution imaging systems (LIDAR and multispectral) for forest inventory and assessment. He manages the Spatial Information Technologies Laboratory in the Department of Forestry and the Southern Remote Sensing Center in the Forest and Wildlife Research Center. He is currently the program coordinator for forestry projects in the Remote Sensing Technologies Center and serves on the technical steering committee.
