The Remote Sensing Technologies Center is conducting a preliminary training and implementation for the newly acquired eCognition image analysis software. eCognition provides an object-oriented environment for image analysis and represents a significantly different approach to image analysis. A limited number of seats of eCognition have been purchased by RSTC and the software will be evaluated over the next year to determine if it should be included in MSU's suite of geospatial applications.

A training has been scheduled to be held in room 409 at the Bost Extension Building for August 12 - 14, 2002. This initial training will be mostly for RSTC, ERC-CGTC, and Forestry department PIs and project staff. It is possible that two seats will be open for the training opportunity. Any interested project PI should contact Chuck O'Hara (cgohara@erc.msstate.edu) or Jessie Schmidt at the RSTC to see if there are available openings. These seats will fill quickly, so interested parties should contact Chuck prior to Tuesday, August 6th.

The potential for use of eCognition may be of interest to many of our University PIs involved in projects that rely heavily on the analysis of remote sensing data. Additional information about the product and  materials to be used in the eCognition training are located on the following links:
